They're a fraud, stay away , they wouldn't hear my complaint, n the order came from a credit card I don't even have, After complaining about the problem its them created a account of me Called life lock n Federal Trade Commission
So I work for a school as a Para in the Sped-SEAS program. My teacher was gifted an electric pencil sharpener. It stopped working so naturally I go to school specialty’s website thinking that there would be a product manual. There wasn’t, so I called and spoke with the first rep and explained the situation and that I needed some support. She looks it up and couldn’t find anything and explained that without a receipt that she couldn’t do anything for me. So I said just to recap if a person is given one of your products as a gift and don’t have a receipt them you don’t stand by your warranty or product. She continues to ramble on the same thing, without a receipt blah blah blah. So finally I ask to speak with a supervisor hoping that there would be some kind of sense but unfortunately there was not. She explains the same thing and mentioned again that they couldn’t find that particular mode number. I go through the same thing with her as the previous rep. Not to mention we work for a school who had to get things donated to help out each classroom. So if you’re looking for a strong solid company that stands by their warranty and products, keep looking they’re not it.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING. Worst customer service ever!! I ordered two drying racks in June from SS Canada in good faith (confirmed the details of the products from their website on the phone). They were not delivered until September (even though we arranged for immediate shipping release.) When they were not as described, I was told the unopened one could be returned (minus shipping/restocking) and then I have been chasing them ever since to pick up the rack – this is going on 6 MONTHS!! Every time I call I get a new random and changing excuse. Emails are replied with a generated response and then a real person replies a month later that they are working on it with different excuses each time. THIS FEELS LIKE A SCAM. They were going to credit $1000 for the opened one but have not done that either. Save yourself the headache, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! I will be sharing this news broadly, so no one makes this mistake.
These people are scammers! I was checking on some of their items and was curious about shipping and tax. I went through the whole process got to CC page where they explained next page would be a confirmation before processing. NOPE! Went straight to a sale. I called immediately to cancel they said too bad. I did a chat and saved content where they said too bad. Called CC had to wait til posted. Called back after posting. Explained and emailed chat session. CC refunded my purchase. Don't know what happened to them or the items I was looking at. STAY AWAY!
I ordered items from School Supply several months ago off their website.I was notified after the payment went through that the items were no longer available. I got a credit for the item since they were no longer carrying it, but SS forgot to also credit for the tax/shipping. I was instructed to call and give them my credit card again so they could apply the credit- which I did. It has been over 3 months but no credit. I called to ask about the credit for a third time and was told the "task" had been sent to their accounts receivable department who had "the task". If he generated another "task" then they would have two for the same task. He indicated the department is small and can't be bothered with phone calls so he doesn't have any phone number for them as it would put them even further behind in their work. So, it's been months since they cancelled the order, made a mistake by not crediting the whole amount and I still have to wait longer because of a Accounting department that is "small". There was no supervisor name or number provided that I could speak to as SS is just one of many companies within a larger company. My husband also heard the entire conversation and could not believe at the ridiculous circular excuses we were given to why they could not provide a timely credit to correct their mistake.
Generally speaking this is possibly the worst company to work for in Wisconsin. They lie, and fraud consumers. I sure hope people are taking advise from these postings. I hope Schools will get away from this company and order from less shady companies
I have been School Specialty customers since before their Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2013. My wife has been a bankruptcy lawyer for many years, and she read their bankruptcy filings and learned that millions of dollars of money was disbursed by the company to its shareholders in the time frame before the bankruptcy. Then the company stiffed a large number of their suppliers, by not paying for goods they received, shipped to customers and received money for.
Since the bankruptcy the consumer frauds the company has perpetrated have been getting worse and worse. Most recently they publicized a 20% discount code which they claimed was good through May 31, 2020. I wasted at least 2 hours putting together a complex order. When I went to check out at 7:30PM Central Time (which is the time zone where School Specialty is located - in Wisconsin). I tried to place my order 4 times, and every time it was rejected for b.s. reasons. Then my wife tried to place the same order through her account and got the same result.
It turned out that School Specialty had a phony time clock on their website, saying that it was not 7:30PM on 5/31/2020, but instead showing that the website considered it to be 4:30AM on 6/1/2020. The clock is a consumer fraud and b.s. because the time zone chosen is in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
Its important to realize that School Specialty was and probably still is the largest vendor of art supplies and school supplies to school districts in the nation. School Specialty sucks in a huge amount of taxpayer money every year through purchasing by school districts and teachers. After their Chapter 11 bankruptcy plan was approved, they jacked up all of their prices by 20% in effect saving their company on the taxpayer dime.
Many times School Specialty accepts orders and then never ships half the goods.
Tonight my wife the bankruptcy lawyer discovered that on April 8, 2020 School Specialty filed a Form 8-K with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission disclosing that the company has entered into a "Forbearance Agreement" with TCW Asset Management Company LLC as agent for School Specialty's major lenders (Bank of America and Bank of Montreal) which was attached to the 8-K. On its first page the Forbearance Agreement recites "Whereas, as of the date hereof, multiple Events of Default under the Loan Agreement and the other Loan Documents have occurred and are continuing;"
The public disclosure of those loan defaults by School Specialty with its major lender shows that the company is in financial trouble again.
I implore everyone to buy their art supplies and school supplies somewhere else so that your money doesn't go out the door while you get stiffed by School Specialty and its secured creditors and their agent.
